The artist Julita Jaskiewicz-Macek lives in Warsaw, Poland. She graduated from prestigious art school, then, Warsaw Polytechnic with
a degree in architecture. Since long, she has been fascinated with a difficult but rich art of icons. First, she studied under the guidance
of father Zygfryd Kot, the Jesuit who is a master of this area. Later she worked with Mateusz Srodon, another master of icons.
Julita's icons are very unique in their expression. They represent the rare blend of originality and skillful technique based on old Greek
and Russian tradition. She supports her compositions by reaching to the famous heritage from Byzantium era. The artist applies quite
old method of using tempera, a based on eggs, as well as other methods one involves applying gold for its fascinating effect.
Julita Jaskiewicz is a co-creator of Agathos, the group whose members work on expanding their interests by reaching to Easter Church
and its spirituality. They also organize exhibitions and meetings.
